Diving with Whale Sharks at
Ningaloo Reef
Ningaloo Reef is one of the few places on earth where you can reliably experience world-class diving and snorkelling on one of Earth’s last pristine reefs.
Every year, these gentle giants gather along the reef to feed on the dense plankton blooms that follow the annual coral spawn, drawing divers and snorkellers from around the world.
When to See Them
Ningaloo Reef is accessible year-round, with conditions at their best between March and November. The reef comes alive after the annual coral spawn, drawing marine life from across the Indian Ocean.
What to Expect
Ningaloo’s reef system stretches over 300 kilometres, with dive sites ranging from sheltered lagoons to dramatic drop-offs along the outer reef. Most dives happen in 5 to 25 metres of warm, clear water with visibility regularly exceeding 20 metres.
Our crew know every corner of this reef — we pick the best site for the day based on conditions, not a fixed schedule.
Where They're Found
Ningaloo’s best dive sites are found along the outer reef edge, where deep water meets the continental shelf and plankton concentrates close to the surface. The reef’s position, close to shore with deep water nearby, is part of what makes Ningaloo such a reliable spot compared with other diving destinations in Australia.
